Welcome to Lord Has Mercy Orphanage Charity!
Welcome to Lord Has Mercy Orphanage Charity!
My name is Aaron Lesher and I'm married to my beautiful wife Angie and have two amazing daughters, Sophie and Caroline. We live in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. We attend Church of Eleven 22, a non-denominational Bible based church in Jacksonville, FL.
As I grew older, I realized that I wanted to make more personal connections with my charitable contributions to feel the Holy Spirit in action and to see the direct results of my efforts. I wanted something more personal, a heart-to-heart connection.
After learning about the horrific human trafficking situation in the world, I was praying very hard for God to save the children. I believe God heard my prayers and gave me an opportunity to help. Soon after praying, I stumbled across Meshack half-way across the world in Kenya, who was also praying very hard for help. Meshack was an orphan when he was young and vowed to help other orphans as his life mission. He's the Lead Pastor at the Lord Has Mercy Orphanage in Kisii, Kenya. Meshack kept rescuing orphans on the street who were in danger. He didn't have the means to care for them, but he has enormous faith, and his heart wouldn't let him say no.
Once Meshack got to 52 orphans, the situation was very dire. The kids were starving and sleeping piled up in a tiny dirt floor hut. He was pleading to God for help. God heard his prayers and mine, and connected us across the world! I was a little skeptical at first, so just sent a small amount of money to test the situation. In return, the children sang me a thank you song that warmed my heart. That developed into regular weekly video calls with Meshack, his sons Fred, Newton, Isaac and the orphans. We soon became friends across the world.
In late 2019, I decided to go all in and build a house for the children. I reached out to friends and family for help, but I didn't get much. People were skeptical because I didn't have a formal charity established, and I had not yet visited this place in person. I couldn't blame them. I had plans to visit in 2020, then COVID hit. Finally, in September 2023, I visited them in Africa and launched an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit upon my return. We hope that you an find it in your heart to help these poor kids.
Over four years, we quickly established an amazing facility with proper training, nutrition, and spiritual development for the children. After the children had a place to sleep, we built a house for the pastors and staff. We've seen first-hand how helping others in the Spirit of God grows exponentially. Blessings showered down on our efforts at every turn. God is good!
Now we have proven this concept works, but we have exhausted our financial resources, so we are reaching out to you. One family can only do so much. It's time to enlist the support of others. You can even sponsor one of the children, if you feel moved to do so.
We welcome friends, family and others who have a big heart and a desire to help children to come join us! The children have nothing to give but their prayers, love, laughter and songs. The children want to offer something back, so they will sing a personal thank you song to anyone who gives $50 or more! I know you will cherish their songs just like I did. Why not make charitable giving personal and see the real-life smiles on the children's faces. It is truly life changing.
The orphanage has stopped accepting new orphans for now. 56 is the maximum capacity that we can house. But as some graduate and get jobs, that will make room for new ones. 56 kids is a lot of work and mouths to feed, plus clothes, shoes, medicine, books, school supplies, school fees, etc. We did the hard part by building the houses and buying the farm land. Now we need your help maintaining the ongoing expenses for nurturing these kids into productive, honorable adults.
The orphanage staff includes Pastor Meshack, Fred (Meshack's first orphan son who now helps manage the orphanage), Jacky (House mom), Elias (Pastor, Bible expert, fun teacher), Bazoo (cook with a perpetual smile), Vena & Abby (song and dance teachers, Big Sisters), Mofat, and several others. Having visited this place in August 2023 in person, I was amazed at what an incredible operation they are running. They are very good stewards of every dollar donated. The children are positive, happy, respectful, work hard at school, and support each other in times of need. Their faith is strong.
Will you help us? We can write the next chapter of this book of life together. I promise you won't regret it! God bless you.
